The transportation industry plays an important role in developing the national economics at each country in the world. With the development of science and technology nowadays, the demand of energy usage becomes a critical issue for all domains at a various industry at present. In when, the energy consumption is a main keyword that a lot of researchers/scholars are investigating and approaching at some different methodologies through the specific field. Consequently, the energy consumption has been researched both the economical and the technical aspect. On the other hand, the energy consumption relates directly to the environmental pollution and the climate change phenomenon. In this topic, the design of energy consumption model is very necessary to monitor and control an amount of energy consumption during the operational process. In when, the transportation industry is a backbone to develop the economics based on the transportation logistics and loading/unloading the cargoes between the different places, countries in the world. Then, the optimal solution has been proposed and studied through the development of wireless communication network and system. The internet of things (IoT) technique is a big tool to monitor and control the energy consumption domain for the transportation. Based on the advantages of this technique, there are some recent research results which have been proposed and conducted on building the monitoring models to gain some outstanding points compared with the traditional ones.
