Abstract
Vegetable agriculture is a key contributor to rural livelihoods, food security, and economic development. However, smallholder farmers continue to face challenges such as limited market access, inadequate post-harvest infrastructure, inefficient supply chains, price volatility, and restricted access to finance, which hinder productivity and reduce the benefits of commercialization. This study examines how appropriate commercialization of vegetable agricultural goods can promote economic growth through market-oriented production, strengthened value chains, technological innovation, and supportive government policies. A comprehensive review of recent literature and secondary data was conducted to assess the impact of commercialization on agricultural productivity, farmer income, employment generation, and economic development. The findings indicate that effective commercialization enhances market participation, improves supply chain efficiency, reduces post-harvest losses, increases farmer income, creates rural employment opportunities, and contributes to Gross Domestic Product through higher agricultural output and exports. The adoption of digital marketing, precision agriculture, cold-chain logistics, farmer cooperatives, and financial support further strengthens the competitiveness and sustainability of vegetable production. The study concludes that coordinated policy interventions, modern technologies, and efficient marketing systems are essential for sustainable agricultural transformation. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, extension agencies, agribusiness enterprises
