Abstract

Software Defined network (SDN) is an advanced type of networking that decouples the control logic and the data plane. The result of this disaggregation is a weakly coupled control/data plane architecture, which enables greater flexibility in configuring and manipulating network configurations. Besides, SDN offers a centralized management paradigm in the form of SDN controller, which simplifies the management of the network, and the paper defines significant issues and gaps in the current research and outlines possible research directions of SDN in the future.
